Grain of Sand Ltd. provides services in communications, analysis and policy. Its Director, Caspar Henderson, is writing a journal from the Saya 2002 expedition, and will assist in construction, monitoring and coral gardening. He will also write articles for the press about Saya 2002 to be published later in the year. Background

Caspar's background includes environmental policy and journalism. He has written articles for The Financial Times, Environmental Finance, Clean Energy Finance, The Ecologist, New Internationalist, The Guardian, The Daily Express, New Scientist, The Economist and others. Caspar is a senior correspondent for Green Futures magazine and is a winner of the Reuters-IUCN Media Award for best environmental reporting in Central and Western Europe.

To join Saya 2002, he is taking a break from Open Democracy, where he is globalisation strand editor. He is also writing 'The Which? Guide to the Energy Saving Home' (Penguin, September 2002).

Until September 2001 Caspar was a Senior Policy Adviser at Consumers' Association (UK), specialising in electricity, gas and water. He has been a writer, consultant and researcher for Greenpeace, Oxfam, RSPB, Forum for the Future, the European Commission and many others. Previous employers include BBC Radio 4 (Costing the Earth), the Green College Centre for Environmental Policy and Understanding at Oxford University (policy and communications on climate change, biodiversity etc.), Adel Darwish author of Unholy Babylon, and Index on Censorship.
